In this article, we'll take you step-by-step through how to create a new managed service in the new Azure portal.

The Windows Azure Development Portal now has a new look. It is based on Silverlight, and all operations can be done in one page. This new portal has a ribbon at the top, a left pane and a right pane. With this new portal, almost everything can be done in one page from configuring the guest operating system to stopping or restarting a service. In this article, we'll take you step-by-step through how to create a new managed service in the new Azure portal.

The specific steps are as follows:

1, Login to Azure Portal

2, click "New Hosted Service" on the top left

3, you will get the following pop-up window. You can use this window to create a new managed service.

4, first, select a subscription from the Drop-down list. I have a total of two subscriptions. I chose the "DebugMode" subscription.

5, Next, you need to provide a name for this service. You can provide a name for this hosting service at your discretion. Here, I give this service the name is "Hostetempservice". Then, provide the URL for this service, the URL I provided is "HosteTempService.cloudapp.net". This managed service can be accessed through http://debugmode.cloudapp.net/.

6, after providing the service name and URL, we need to select the region and the "affinity group". So far, Microsoft has provided 9 areas. You can also create your own "affinity group" if you want.

To create the affinity group, select the Create or Choose affinity Group radio button.

Select the Create a new affinity group option from the Drop-down list. Assign a name to this "affinity group" and select the target location for this "affinity group".

7, select the deployment option. You can also choose not to deploy that option. Later, you can configure this deployment. If you want to start this newly created service after a successful deployment, select the check box.

8, specify a name for this deployment. Select the configuration file and package file for the application you want to host in this service, and then click the OK button.

In future articles, we'll see how to add a certificate to a managed service. When you click the "OK" button, you will see that the newly created service has been listed.
