After discovering the problem, the company has stopped using all 7,000 terminals in nearly 700 stores and has recalled the terminals for repairs. The Barnes bookstore found that 63 devices from different outlets were tampered with. The affected stores are located in California, Florida State, New York State, New Jersey, Rhode Island State, Connecticut State, Massachusetts, Illinois and Pennsylvania. The Barnes Bookstore has notified the FBI (hereinafter referred to as "the FBI") and the Office of the Federal prosecutor in southern New York. The Barnes Bookstore was the first to discover the problem on September 14, but it was announced at the request of the FBI. The FBI says it is currently investigating the matter. The Barnes Bookstore cautioned that consumers who recently shopped in affected outlets should change their debit pin numbers and inquire about account information. For credit card users, pay attention to their own billing. The Barnes Bookstore said it was not yet known how many users were affected.
