Cloudera was founded in 2008 and most of its founding team came from companies such as Oracle, Yahoo, Facebook and Google (Weibo). Among them, Doug Cutting, chief architect of Cloudera, is the founder of the Hadoop creator and Apache Hadoop project. Hadoop is a distributed system infrastructure and one of the core technologies of large data.

The two sides stressed on several occasions that it would strengthen strategic partnerships to serve the Chinese market and users.

Moreover, investment has strengthened the cooperation of the two companies. In early April, Intel acquired a 18% per cent stake of 740 million dollars. To this end, Intel has shut down its own team of self-developed Hadoop and switched to a Cloudera Hadoop solution.
In order to serve Chinese customers, Cloudera will work with Intel to launch a converged version of the Hadoop product to provide technical support and services to Chinese customers, and to embody both names in the product's logo.
The industry said that the Cloudera products are mainly concentrated in the large data base software platform, and the main Hadoop, which meets the needs of the domestic market. But Splunk, another big U.S. data company that enters China, wants to build a local development, Cloudera's plans are more likely to be sold.
Mike Olson told Tencent that Cloudera will build its operations in China and direct sales in China, and establish technical support and service teams. It is reported that Cloudera plans to set up a business in China this September.
