BlackBerry received at least 27 U.S. patents this week, news from Beijing time, October 23 morning. From these patents, the outside world can roughly understand what the BlackBerry is developing.
According to the US Patent and Trademark Office, these patents cover information security technology and the user interface of the teleconferencing system. BlackBerry CEO Chen said in September that video conferencing service BBM meetings will be launched by the end of this year.
BlackBerry is expanding its product line for enterprise users. Last year, the BlackBerry tried to win back the consumer smartphone market, but failed. This November, BlackBerry will also launch a new mobile phone, as well as the latest BlackBerry Enterprise Service (BES). The BlackBerry spokeswoman has yet to comment on the patent news.
At a meeting in September this year, Chen said the BlackBerry is developing new equipment, including one that will be displayed at the Barcelona Mobile World Congress (MWC) next March.
Another patent disclosed this week shows how to unlock smartphones by using small electronic devices mounted on a watch or strap that eliminates the need for users to unlock them by entering a password. Another patent describes a touch-screen shell that allows users to take notes on the device without having to open the shell.
