KeywordsMotorola judgment royalty patent license
Beijing time February 6 morning news, according to foreign media reports, the London High Court Judge Richard Arnold (Richard Arnold) in Friday ruled that Rim has not violated Motorola's patent. Arnold also declared the Motorola patent invalid and said that even if the patent was valid, RIM's two communications systems did not violate the patent. A spokesman for Rim said in an e-mail statement that Motorola "has been seeking legal action to help it negotiate unreasonable royalties, in an attempt to compensate for its losses in the market and to get rid of its inability to sell its mobile phone sector". Rim "has been happy to pay a reasonable royalties for any patent license," the statement said, in line with the Long-held view that Motorola was merely vexatious. A Motorola spokeswoman hasn't commented on the matter. This January, Motorola filed a complaint with the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) that it would ban Rim's imports of specific technology, saying it violated Motorola's five patents. The case is still pending. (Tangfeng)
