Global Times Special correspondent Li Qiuheng, according to Reuters news, the U.S. auto Trade Policy Committee Chairman Steven Collins (Steve Collins) said 28th, China has told the United States plans to launch a trade investigation, may lead to Chrysler, Ford and General Motors are exporting to China's cars and sport utility vehicles (SUVs) to impose tariffs. "This week, China submitted to the U.S. government documents containing the allegations, but the documents have not yet been translated," Steven Collins told Reuters. We cannot therefore comment on the matter at this time. He predicts that the three major U.S. automakers are exporting about 9,000 cars to China. The current U.S. Commerce secretary Gary Locke, Trade Representative Kirk and Agriculture Minister Vilsack Tom Vilsack are conducting a high-level dialogue in China aimed at resolving trade frictions between the two countries, Reuters reported. U.S. President Barack Obama angered Beijing last month by announcing a 35% tariff on tyres imported from China. China immediately launched the World Trade Organization dispute settlement process on U.S. tyre insurance and said it would launch an anti-dumping and countervailing investigation against the US auto industry to offset its unfair pricing mechanism and government subsidies. U.S. passenger cars exported to China in 2008 amounted to $1.1 billion trillion, including BMW and Nissan. China has overtaken the US this year to become the world's largest car market. Analysts expect the Chinese market to have a geometric growth in demand for new cars in the coming years.
