WASHINGTON (Reuters)-The most innovative countries are the United States, Germany, Japan and China, according to GE's Global Innovation Trends Survey (Zhongjingjing), released yesterday in Davos. The report, launched by GE, surveyed 1000 executives from 12 countries, all of whom were directly involved in the company's innovative projects, including 30% as CEO, CIO and CTO level. The United States received 67% votes, the top, followed by Germany (44%), third in Japan (43%) and then in China (35%). 77% of executives believe that the greatest innovations of the 21st century will be those that can best address the basic human needs, rather than the most lucrative projects. 95% of executives believe that innovation is the main determinant of national economic competitiveness, while 88% of executives believe that innovation is the best way to provide jobs for a country. Innovation improves human life mainly through four aspects of health quality, environmental quality, energy security and educational opportunities.
