China imports 5.14 million tons of soybeans in January 26%

The general administration of Customs February 14 released figures showing that China imported 5.14 million tonnes of soybeans in January 2011, an increase of 26% per cent year-on-year.  Customs also said that January imported edible vegetable oil 610,000 tons, imported cereals and cereal powder 140,000 tons, imports of fresh, dried fruits and nuts 311,100 tons. The General administration of Customs pointed out that in the amount of imports, January soybean imports of 2.868 billion U.S. dollars, the chain growth of 0.69%, January edible oil imports of 651 million U.S. dollars, the chain growth of 21.86%; January fresh, dry fruit and nuts imports 329 million U.S. dollars, lower chain-31.64% 74.593 million U.S. dollars in cereal and cereal powder imports increased by 45.32% in the chain in January.
