"International Financial Times Beijing" China's president visits Latin America, signed a free trade agreement, and promoted the Sino-Latin American trade cooperation. It also attracted attention from the Western media, the Guardian newspaper said April 18: "China's influence has crossed across Latin America." Compiled as follows: When you go through almost any Latin American country, you will see the impact of China: Costa Rica's soccer field, Venezuelan scholarship, Uruguay's car factory, Brazil's 1 billion-dollar loan. The Asian giant has entered the confines of what was once thought to be the American backyard and has carefully established an important economic role. China has a new and expanded embassy in the Venezuelan capital of Caracas and the Brazilian capital Brasilia, with Chinese courses in the Bolivian capital Lapaz and the Argentine capital Buenos Aires, and Chinese tourists at Machu Picchu Pass the Panama Canal in flag cruise ships. In addition, Chinese President Hu Jintao has recently travelled to Brazil to sign a five-year "strategic plan" with the South America's largest economy. China has overtaken the US as Brazil's biggest trading partner, and the booming economy has once again crossed the region. Once in Latin America, China's trade in Latin America has risen from $10 billion trillion in 2000 to more than $100 billion a year today. Latin American officials warmly welcome the Chinese delegation, not only on the plane, but also in Guangzhou, Nanjing and Shanghai. Unlike Russia, Russia has raised concerns by sending warships to meet anti-American leaders, such as Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez, but China's efforts to promote economic transactions are a purely trade visit. China imports soybeans from Argentina, copper from Chile, iron ore from Brazil, and zinc from Peru, and exports clothing, automobiles and electronic equipment to the region. China's trade with Latin America helped peace in Latin America through the global economic crisis, but there was concern about a "new colonial" model. The region's goods are being absorbed by foreign countries while industries are being replaced by cheap goods from China's undervalued currency. When Argentine soybean oil was accused by China of dumping goods, Beijing carried out a crackdown, introducing safety concerns and banning the import of Argentine soy oil. After the Chinese earthquake, Hu shortened his trip to Brazil and canceled his visit to Chile and Venezuela, where he was scheduled to sign an oil deal with Venezuela. President Hu Jintao will come next time, Chavez said. Venezuelan leaders have declared themselves a Maoist, but that has little to do with China. They only need crude oil.
