China Telecom yesterday announced that the first submarine tunnel in Xiamen Xiang ' an submarine tunnel will be opened to traffic, Telecom has recently completed the 5.95-kilometer submarine tunnel in the 3G signal coverage. The average mobile download rate in the tunnel is 172.13k/s, equivalent to about 1.5M ADSL bandwidth. China Telecom said that the tunnel is basically to achieve a more smooth communication. (Zhao)
