Beijing time February 8 Evening News, according to foreign media reports, China will build a city-scale cloud computing and office integrated base in Langfang, Hebei, the base will include a large data center, is to support China's IT spending continues to maintain double-digit growth in a number of large projects. The base will be 6.2 million square feet (about 580,000 square meters), where the data center covers an area of 646,000 square feet (about 60,000 square meters), and the project will be built by IBM and China's moist technology development Limited. On a scale, the project is comparable to that of the US Pentagon. From the project effect map, the base has a number of buildings, should be office buildings, may also include residential areas. While China's annual IT spending accounts for only 1/5 of the US, it is gaining momentum, and the launch of several large projects, including supercomputers and software parks, will win global attention. China's cloud computing outlook is broad IDC data show that 2010 China's IT spending of 97 billion U.S. dollars, this year is expected to reach 112 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 15.6%. America's IT spending is expected to reach $564 billion trillion this year, up just 5.9% per cent year-on-year. "The current Chinese IT industry is not very strong and relies on suppliers to design data centers for them," said Dale Sartor, a Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory engineer at the US Department of Energy's Lawrence Berkeley Country Laboratory. Last year, Sator visited 8 data centers in China. Sator predicts that the development of China's data centers will be significantly accelerated, especially for large cloud computing service centers. "In terms of efficiency and control capabilities, China's cloud computing landscape is broad," Sator said. Once cloud computing becomes popular and supported by the government, cloud computing is more efficient and convenient than the traditional decentralized management model. "The project will use IBM's data design services," IBM said, "the rapid development of China's IT industry also contributed to the growth of IBM revenue, 2010 IBM China revenue growth of 25%." The data center initially occupies 646,000 square feet, but can be easily expanded to 1 million square feet (about 93,000 square meters). With the completion of the initial 7 data centres, it is possible to build 3 data center buildings on both sides of the project in the future. IBM said the center is expected to be completed in 2016 and will be one of the world's largest data centers. The world's largest data center is located in Chicago, 1.1 million square feet (about 102,000 square meters), according to knowledge, a market research institute. (Li Ming)
