CNET Science and Information Network May 24 International reports Cisco plans to buy Optical network technology company Coreoptics. Coreoptics technology helps operators deal with the growth of traffic brought about by the spread of cloud computing technology.

Cisco local time in Thursday said that Coreoptics digital signal processing technology can improve signal transmission efficiency, while increasing network transmission capacity while reducing costs.

Cisco said the study found that, with the spread of cloud computing, video and mobile apps, IP traffic would grow by 5 times times between 2008 and 2013, with an annual composite growth rate of 40%.

Coreoptics technology focuses on applications-oriented digital signal processors, optical fiber systems, and applications and network architectures.
