Cisco announced yesterday that the company would buy assemblage, a collaborative application developer, that details of the takeover have yet to be disclosed.
Assemblage provides real-time collaborative applications for demo broadcasts, shared whiteboards, and screen sharing. In assemblage, Cisco is particularly eyeing its support for a one-click Browser Configuration, which does not require additional downloads, plug-ins or installations.
Cisco Senior Vice President Hilton Romanski said Assemblage's products support at least 40 different file types and have a wide range of applications. In addition, assemblage has experience with Third-party cloud ecosystem applications such as box and Google, which coincide with Cisco's partnering strategy and the company's commitment to indirection and interoperability.
As part of the deal, Assemblage's team of engineers will be integrated into Cisco's collaborative technology group after the acquisition is completed.
