According to Reuters, Cisco announced in Monday that it will invest 1 billion dollars in expanding cloud services over the next two years, linking its cloud computing network Intercloud Hundreds of data centers, cloud service providers and more than 30 partners. Cisco says Intercloud will help companies deal with and manage data from billions of devices and applications from around the world. Cisco Intercloud Partners include Deutsche Telekom, BT, Equinix Inc., which will also add 250 data centers from 50 countries to the network in the future.
Intercloud allows companies to manage data traffic through specific cloud services and data centers, helping multinationals respond to the demands of foreign regulators, which require companies to store data collected from their nationals in local data centers.
Cisco also wants Intercloud to address security and reliability concerns that prevent businesses from accessing cloud services through public Internet connections. Cisco works with Equinix, a provider of interconnected solutions, to provide a protected access path for customers to access the public cloud network.
