Cleversafe publishes a commercially distributed storage network

Recently, Cleversafe released its first commercially available distributed storage Network (dsnet). DSNet is a platform for storing and archiving digital content. Based on Cleversafe products, DSNet provides new online data protection services for small and medium sized enterprises on the basis of a group of company service providers, telecommunications and hosting partners and follow-up services.

Cleversafe technology uses a decentralized algorithm for information (IDAS) to slice digital content and transmit it through a reliable network connection consisting of multiple storage nodes on the dsnet. Each slice itself is useless, but the original data can be recreated by connecting a few slices of any band. This allows dsnet to allow multiple failed hardware or storage, while maintaining data security and ease of use.

The newly announced commercial nature of the dsnet capacity is 48TB, half of which is used for Cleversafe internal storage and test development. The remaining 24TB is divided by Cleversafe distributed storage provider (DSP) partners to help with the storage services infrastructure.

Including onshore Networks,fastroot International,merrimac Solutions,pinpoint network Solutions and Cyber Development Partners, such as group, have purchased and deployed Cleversafe equipment and are operating as part of the DSNet multi-stop product.

A distributed storage network consists of a deployed infrastructure and three interconnected cleversafe components. The component is CS Slicestor,cs accesser dispersed storage Routing and CS Manager dispersed storage network management.

CS Slicestor 1U Server will provide 3TB capacity, CS Accesser will be dispersed and transmitted data. CS Manager is an Out-of-band (out-of-band) network tool for managing, monitoring, and reporting product statistics on capacity utilization and error conditions.

CS Slicestor Equipment prices around 11300 U.S. dollars, CS Accesser and CS Manager appliances price of 12300 dollars up and down. With a typical configuration example, a network of eight slicestors, two accessers, and one manager will provide 24TB of capacity. Russ Kennedy, vice president of Cleversafe product management, said such a typical 127000 dollar configuration could provide up to 13-nines of computational reliability.

"We believe this is the right technology for storage services," he said. "DSNet is the ideal off-site backup and data protection network," says Kennedy. From a pricing standpoint, our partners provide storage services that are very tempting in price.

Kennedy did not disclose the exact pricing of the DSNet storage service, but said there was a price tag compared to Amazon's S3 storage service. S3 Current storage space is charged at $0.15/gb per month, with a data transfer charge of 0.20 USD/gb.

"Prices are usually set by partners. But if the price is higher than Amazon, we will do some communication to bring down prices and we will provide better reliability and higher availability. "said Kennedy.

The goal of the Cleversafe team is to meet the needs of SMEs in off-site storage based on dsnet storage services. This may be a big cake for dsnet, but the project initially focused on small businesses that lacked advanced equipment and storage personnel.

"We've seen two markets," says Kennedy. One is composed of enterprise customers, want to build, manage and operate their own internal dsnet market, but more attractive to us, small and medium-sized enterprises have a huge scale of development space. ”
