Cloud computing applications: storage and PAAs "laughing and Proud"

Cloud computing is far more widely used than public, private, or mixed cloud models. It is an inevitable trend to begin to emerge about the need for it to take advantage of cloud services. Cloud storage data, SaaS and PAAs are the obvious winners so far.

Enterprise sees cloud storage potential

Once all businesses have experienced storage capacity problems. Cloud based storage has a clear elasticity supply advantage that allows customers to access additional storage space on demand. But the cost of cloud data storage makes any advantage a headache. It is no surprise that the primary application of storage as a cloud service is not surprising, as businesses spend the primary energy and capital to deploy and manage storage resources.

Data changes regularly, but the data at low frequencies is the first type of data that respondents are willing to put into the cloud (figure I). The growth of near-line storage is much less than the expected growth of primary storage, with the main data emphasizing that data is produced in real time by Raiyun providers because of storage security and validity issues. The growth of backup data is still flat, and it is not surprising that backups are being applied to cloud services.

In addition, DR and backup data were treated as two distinct projects, and 69% of respondents said Dr Data and regular backup data were stored separately in the cloud.

Although Cloud-based storage appears, the findings imply that even 39% of respondents who use cloud-based Dr Services have moved data to other physical Dr sites and 33% still have Dr data on tape. More worryingly, only 46% of respondents said they could recover from cloud-based storage services and 28% had actually tested recovery.

Currently, most businesses use cloud storage to support more effective business workloads than 25%. The number of business applications encapsulated in cloud storage is expected to grow significantly over the next six months, mainly reflected in the growth of near-line storage and archived storage (Figure 2 and Figure 3).
