In the Cloud October 29, 2012, "China Cloud mobile internet Innovation Grand Prix Final award ceremony and innovative Entrepreneurship Forum" held in Beihang. At the meeting, Mr. Tian, chairman of the broadband capital, Mr. Wang Wenjing, Chairman and president of Ufida, Longhu Real Estate chairman Yajun, president of China Unicom Mr. Yimin, Baidu CEO Robin Li, vice president of Microsoft, Mr. Lurkey, discussed the "cloud computing: China's opportunities and challenges" round table.
Here's what's on-site shorthand:
Moderator: Thank Dr. Lurkey, there are three guests to attend our conference, they are the chairman of the broadband capital Tian, Mr. Wang Wenjing, Chairman and president of Ufida, Longhu real Estate chairman Yajun. Today's event is the guests gathered, such a lineup in the development of the Internet is also rare to see, presumably today's teachers and students, must hope to have the opportunity to listen to the vision of the guests. The following session of the Conference to enter the high-end theme dialogue, let us solemnly invite Mr. Tian, Mr. Lurkey, Mr. Li, China Unicom President Yimin and Ufida Chairman and President Wang Wenjing.
Tian, chairman of the broadband capital: fellow students, teachers, and principals, today I represent the Cloud Computing Alliance organization of this theme, I think, our theme will be discussed with the past to participate in a number of meetings are two different. 1th, at least I am the first one to face the future of China's representatives, is the students. 2nd, we are also the different industries, from internet companies, software companies, operators, as well as Microsoft, just heard Mr. Lurkey very wonderful speech, we hope that through such a dialogue to talk about two issues. The first question that we want to talk to each of us is the future of China's cloud computing opportunities and challenges, from different industries and business perspectives. The second topic we do some cross-border, we want to talk about, from the operator perspective how to look at the Internet, the Internet perspective how operators, software companies look at operators.
Why are we doing this? We see that big innovation begins with integration, and we talk today about Apple as a company that combines computer companies with music and mobile communications to create such a great enterprise. Everyone here today is also looking forward to seeing each other from each other's point of view. I hope that the use of such exchanges, to the students, but also to our industry practitioners have some inspiration. Enter the first link, starting from everyone, from the perspective of your business, China's cloud computing opportunities and challenges how? Start with Wen Jing.
Ufida Chairman and President Wang Wenjing: Thank you, in fact, just now Dr Lurkey's report has put this problem analysis very carefully. Is that we in this era, China Ufida opportunity, our market size conditions, our China whether it is a personal consumer or enterprise customers, for such a new type of IT applications. As well as our corresponding foundation, is the innovation in this field of human resources related to the foundation. About the size of the market, this July, when we went to the UK, I happened to meet Apple's head of European business, and we discussed it on a table, and I asked him, why is a country so innovative? But why didn't companies like Apple appear? He said one reason: the market size is not enough, including the entire European market, not only that the British market is not enough, because the whole European market is relatively fragmented and dispersed. This is precisely said that the United States such size market, China also has, this is extremely important. Specific to Ufida engaged in the field of enterprise applications, we now see a huge opportunity.
From the perspective of medium-sized enterprises, the transformation and upgrading of Chinese enterprises, are particularly expected to more application systems, transformation and upgrade There are two drivers, one is more agile operation, management more sophisticated. So the need for information systems, more than ever, and because the operation more agile, more sophisticated management, our original system model, technology model, in fact, can not be satisfied. Another is because of cost factors, human cost factors, so more to rely on systems and machines.
Then, small micro-enterprises, China has 4300多万家, small micro-enterprises have some simple enterprise applications. Now we are the way to climb small micro-enterprises in the application of this way, now from all levels of government, is also actively promoting, in this way for small micro-enterprises to carry out enterprise operations services. China almost 10 years ago, the country 863 has such a push, many places have tried, but did not succeed. No success is very important because the lack of cloud computing architecture like today, the lack of large data technology base, so from the enterprise market, whether it is large and medium-sized enterprises, small micro-enterprises, there are huge opportunities. Coupled with the advantages of the entire Chinese market, I particularly agree with Dr Lu just now, this is a Chinese cloud era, such a historical opportunity has arrived, thank you!
Tian, chairman of Broadband Capital: Lu always shares his vision of China's cloud computing.
Yimin, president of China Unicom: I think any thing must have its preconditions. Think about today's cloud, I can recall more than 10 years ago our network computer. When the network computer came out, there are a lot of concepts and today's idea is similar, but why the network computer did not become scale, did not form a cloud like the current so much momentum, in fact, a few conditions immature. First, the conditions of the network support. In other words, we are based on the entire network technology, network support capabilities, the speed of the network, in fact, can not support the architecture at that time.
Second, we have the ability to handle the computer, the storage is effective, including the cost of our storage equipment down. Why do I talk about this problem? In fact, now with the rapid development of network technology, as well as our rapid upgrading of network capabilities, coupled with it technology, especially our processing technology, storage technology, high-speed development, from the technical level and application level, to support our cloud computing architecture business development. Why is the cloud able to move to the cloud today? The core or technological progress, the development of technology, can support our new architecture now.
At this point in the day, for the operator, I came here today probably, this is the IT experts here, most of them are it and internet companies, but operators can come here, is actually quite strange, you may ask this question. In fact, China Unicom, China Unicom is now the only operating WCDMA3G operators in China, but you know why call 3G, is from the original fixed-network broadband extended to mobile broadband. For now, the real mobile broadband operator in China is China Unicom.
From the current, future business and technology development, our traditional telecom operators, we are under construction network, to provide you with communications services. In the past, traditional services were voice services. China Unicom is now switching to data services, but the transformation itself is facing a very big challenge. We have to consider that in the broadband phase of fixed network, we also provide fixed-band broadband services. But we have a lot of revenue and our source of profit is traditional business, we fixed voice and mobile voice. Why did China Mobile grow so fast these years? He grasped the opportunity of moving voice replacements for fixed speech. But the future of mobile data communications will replace fixed broadband speed communication, in this transition period, the technological progress of our traditional telecom operators put forward a very big challenge, here technology progress, business model transformation. Let's imagine that you are texting now, who still spends money, phone calls will not pay, to call overseas friends, not long-distance calls, must be on Facebook, or a software on the Internet. Your text must be a micro-letter, a variety of instant messaging products. In fact, when we are laying our mobile broadband network, we are already having a revolutionary impact on our traditional operating models, traditional profit models, and traditional business models.
So, where is the future operator's exit? must also be innovation. That future innovation may also be in the business model of innovation, technological innovation. Of course, cloud computing is an important direction for us to innovate. That's why I'm here today to attend the meeting. In fact, China Unicom in the future of the business model changes, technological progress, in fact, cloud strategy is a very important direction for our future strategy. China Unicom has actually done a good job of exploring this aspect.
I said just now, it ability and network ability promotion, the actual biggest advantage, just talked about security and service, these are our advantages, but before we started a little late, the institutional mechanism did not keep up, so the internet companies such as Robin Li went to the forefront. We certainly face a variety of challenges in the future. Therefore, we are also full of vision for the future development of China's cloud, but also full of hope. Thank you!
