In all respects, 2012 is a good year for cloud computing. In addition to becoming a favorite in the media's eyes, cloud computing has also harvested a lot of corporate hugs.

Despite good results, in terms of market revenue, the cloud computing market is not optimistic, cloud computing provider's performance is very low, because from the relevant data to see orders into less than 1%, but from another point of view, the future of cloud computing potential is quite large.

Cloud computing providers and potential suppliers are thinking: How to transform a service into a successful commodity harvest. Fortunately, the dual push of cloud computing providers and users will drive the development of cloud computing in the 2013.

Below we will explain the five major trends in cloud computing providers over the next 2013 years.

1. PAAs will be "king"

The author feels that the biggest cloud platform shift in 2013 is that PAAs (Platform-service) will be the preferred service model for cloud server providers. With IaaS (infrastructure as a service) dominated today, IaaS vendors are starting to fall under pressure from cost and price, and clearly the business model of IaaS is hard to explain. More importantly, smart users and cloud-computing providers are asking: if cloud computing is so different from other server interactions, why not use it all in the cloud?

If the application is at the top of the cloud stack, and the server is at the bottom, IaaS is the lowest threshold to enter the cloud. A cost-oriented enterprise will still follow this trajectory, meaning that cloud services can only replace the maintenance costs of the same resources deployed within the enterprise, which means that IaaS can only replace the cost of hardware and facilities for users.

As a result, SaaS (software as a service) can save the most cost, while IaaS saves the least cost, but SaaS requires a broader application repository, so cloud providers are starting to turn to developers and integrators to build higher levels. In fact, they are doing the same, and suppliers are beginning to realize that by providing more virtual machine hosting, they can create more value for their partners and build a more unified platform business framework to reduce their own cloud support costs.

Cloud computing has moved away from the mechanism of cost and profit management. Recently, PAAs began to introduce new things called "Virtual cloud Operating Systems", which is what many cloud service providers do, after all, each time a vendor launches a new cloud-based service, it creates a virtual cloud operating system. Today, many PAAs services are mapped to traditional operating systems, and in the future different vendors will create real cloud operating systems that are different from traditional operating systems in a PAAs environment.

The leader of the IaaS domain Amazon Web service is also stepping up services beyond IaaS, recently releasing the redshift data mining cloud service, and Microsoft has added an application programming interface to its Windows Azure Public cloud service, It is possible to host a third party hosted Azure compliant cloud, Red Hat also launches PAAs product OpenShift, and Amazon also launches Java Virtual hosting platform. All of these actions have convinced us that 2013 will be a PAAs year.

2. Users know more about cloud

After years of precipitation, cloud computing began to fall in 2012, users have a certain understanding of cloud computing, has begun to go into the implementation phase. When less than One-third of the market users know little about the product or service, will eventually lead to project failure or slow growth, then the promotion of products will naturally become a sales nightmare, cloud computing services and products are the same. The number of users who knew about cloud computing was less than 25% in 2012, but according to a survey by the relevant agencies, the data will grow to 30% in 2013.

Users become more "intelligent", which means that the development of the cloud computing market will be market pressure and market demand. And all of this will turn into an opportunity for operators to eventually integrate the development of cloud computing.

3. SOA cannot be overlooked

A third trend requires a new understanding of the role of SOA in local cloud services. There is a clear loophole in the long-term cloud computing strategy: Learning to use cloud computing to develop applications, not just running applications on the cloud.

Today, many vendors are not just positioning SOA, RESTful APIs as local cloud computing applications, but also as public cloud and internal it connectors.

4. The development of the network

When it comes to cloud computing, security and networking have to be put. In the coming year, Web services will be integrated into the cloud. Software-defined networks and network virtualization are often confused, although they both provide network connectivity and performance control for cloud computing. Just as the OpenStack Quantum API can directly manage virtual networks for users.

5. Don't let Amazon scare you.

As we all know, manufacturers want to stand in the market, product differentiation is the key. No manufacturer would want to enter a market where prices and profits are shrinking. To build a profitable cloud computing product, vendors often develop and expand their products through developers and software partners and add new platform management capabilities. All this will bring more choices to users.

Amazon has spooked a number of competitors with its early cloud services because the early cloud market is not as hot as it is now and everyone is still on the sidelines, and now many manufacturers are aware of the limitless potential of the cloud computing market and are starting to do everything they can to meet the market. So the future of the Amazon is bound to be a single big situation will be rewritten.
