Cloud computing will increase demand in the server market

Intel CFO Starcy Smith said that the popularity of mobile devices was driving an explosive growth in the processors used by the data center, and Intel would continue to benefit from this stacysmith.

"With the growing demand for cloud computing, the explosive growth of cloud devices will push the server market up to $10 billion trillion," Smith said in an interview. ”

Intel believes that the processor requirements of the cloud server are not a short-term requirement, as the increasing sales of smartphones and tablets will drive the market's demand for Intel processor-based servers. This partly compensates for the loss of Intel's inability to launch its smartphone processor in time. Intel expects the company's second-quarter revenue to be 1 billion dollars higher than the market analyst's average forecast

For more than 10 years, Mr Smith says, Intel has been trying to replicate its dominance of the PC processor market to the mobile phone market, and will make some progress later this year. Intel's new smartphone chip, code-named Medfield, said last week that consumers were expected to see Medfield smartphone offerings in the next 12 months.

Although mobile devices drive the sale of server processors, Intel has not given up on the move to the mobile processor market. Smith said Intel still needs to make progress in the handset processor market to demonstrate that Intel is capable of developing low-power, High-performance processor products.

"In the near future, Intel Processor-based handsets will be listed, and the first one will likely become a ' game-changing '," Smith said. Mr Smith also said Intel was willing to offer its mobile design and software to potential customers, and Intel was primarily committed to providing spare parts.
