Cloudera, a large U.S. data provider, sets up a branch in Japan

The Cloudera company, headquartered in California, cooperates with a number of Japanese companies. Japan's large information technology companies are developing products for "big data" generated by Web sites, social networks, and sensor networks to replace the previous central server model.

Cloudera is based on Hadoop development software, a distributed open source platform for processing large amounts of data. Cloudera offers free software to sales support and training as profitable as Red Hat.

Earlier this week, Fujitsu released a set of software to handle large data, including a server that uses Hadoop.

The need for localized Hadoop training is strong in Japan, but the lack of trained engineers and language barriers are often seen as obstacles to the spread of the platform.

Hadoop is a project of the Apache Software Foundation, which was released in version 1.0 this January. Cloudera was founded in 2008, employing the founder of Hadoop Doug Cutting, and last year received 40 million dollars in investment.
