Ctera puts forward the new concept of "cloud direct-attached storage"

Ctera Flagship Products Cloudplug because of innovative packaging technology and the absence of active parts, the CES conference attracted people's attention. Cloudplug encapsulates NAS technology into a device with a powerline network adapter size. It is configured with a Gigabit Ethernet port connected to the network and a USB 2.0 interface connected to the user's external hard drive.

Like low-end Nas, the Ctera device is also based on the Linux operating system, with a Web management interface that supports CIFS and FTP. Compared to Soho Nas, the highlight of this device is to support snapshot capabilities and create raid groups outside of the USB driver.

One advantage of USB storage is that if the cloudplug fails, you only need to connect the drive to the local PC to access the data normally.

But the most striking thing about Cloudplug is that it has online backup capabilities. Of course, data is encrypted by AES before it is sent to net, and Ctera also uses compression and block based data deduplication to minimize network traffic.

Ctera plans to enter the market through management services and Internet service providers, and says it will launch the product this year.

When Ctera introduces 4 slot devices that match hardware RAID, enterprise data managers need to start thinking about installing a SAN-attached portal Server in their own data centers or installing a ctera cloud direct-attached NAS device in their branch offices.
