As the data center virtualization Revolution deepened, traditional driver data, servers, various licenses, and disaster recovery systems were transforming into cloud computing.

According to a recent http://www.aliyun.com/zixun/aggregation/32268.html "> survey" conducted by computing, half of the data centers surveyed remain in a non-virtual state. But based on the advice of Gartner and other information organizations, IT managers should increase the existing level of virtualization by one times to meet the new requirements of the user for the server. And many companies are starting to further improve the virtualization of data centers.

In addition, the application of virtualization is also a major growth point in the near future. According to Computing's survey, in April 2010 only 21% of companies virtualized their key business applications, and now the virtualization of critical business applications has reached 81%. In all applications, however, virtualization still has a relatively small share. On the other hand, the use of multiple-management programs to optimize the performance of individual applications is also increasing.

To continue the virtualization process and to replace the physical infrastructure with virtualization, enterprise users need to streamline the backup and recovery processes that are important to virtualization. Because in reality, many IT managers have found that backup systems have begun to limit the development of enterprise it more and more.

Backing up applications and data from multiple virtual machines and hypervisor is a real challenge for backup systems. On traditional physical servers, backup work usually has an operating system for proxy completion, but for virtual machines this approach is less effective. Because a backup of a virtual machine increases network, I/O, and CPU load, when a virtual machine is backed up, the available resources for other virtual machines are reduced, and such large backups can severely slow down the performance of the entire system. In addition, because the backup itself is a bandwidth-intensive application, large backups can also create a bottleneck by creating a tremendous amount of pressure on the network.

According to the computing survey, about One-fourth of respondents said they would back up more than 10TB of data every month, a problem that has become quite tricky today. The absolute number and ratio of virtual machines in backup is on the rise.

In many applications, databases are one of the most easily virtualized applications. But a database typically contains a lot of important data and confidential files, so backing up the database is important.

So how do you make sure that the virtualization process is not dragged down by issues like backup? In general, data deduplication is a good choice, especially for organizations that have a large number of duplicate files, although the investment is expensive.

Resilient infrastructure can reduce the likelihood of I/O overload by enabling active virtual machines to be backed up before migrating to inactive virtual machines and by reducing the situation of San snapshots and service-less backups.

In addition, virtualization management software and Third-party backup software that provide physical and virtual server management are worthy of consideration by IT managers.

The D2D2T process can also help enterprise users find a balance between short-term data storage and long-term data retention, especially when running automated continuous data protection tools in virtual environments.

Although the virtualization environment varies from company to enterprise, the virtualization Revolution can be pushed forward by using these technologies flexibly.
