Dell sets up cloud computing Research Center in Dublin

Dell says the center will serve as a conceptual laboratory for cloud Applications (proof-of-concept laboratory), focusing on the development of cloud services ' parametric architecture designed to help users make the transition to cloud computing easier. Dell plans to invest $1 billion in the next three years to drive cloud, service and data storage products, and it is part of the plan to set up research and development centers in Dublin. Dell said earlier this year in Beijing that its investments would be used to develop data centers and to install tools to develop technologies like cloud computing and virtualization. The Deldo Burlin Research and Development Center will focus on developing software as a service (Software-as-a-servic) product and storage as a service (Storage-as-a-service) product, as well as expanding the capabilities of the cloud operating system OpenStack, OpenStack is a cloud operating system developed by Rackspace and NASA. As a traditional hardware manufacturer, Dell has been actively developing software products to try to become a competitive enterprise service provider. Dell has provided server products for the cloud infrastructure configuration, and the company also provides consulting services for the development, configuration, and support of cloud services. Dell acquired the software, a service provider Boomi, last November, and the company acquired security firm SecureWorks earlier this month. Dell says the company will establish advisory and customer support centers in Emmerich, Ireland (Limerick). Dell will recruit 150 employees in the two centers, including developers, engineers and IT architects.
