Dell's IT clients want to see hardware companies ' investments in third-party companies that can be paid in the form of a coherent service and solution provider strategy.

The strategy may now be clear to Dell executives, but the company has done more to convince it stores that the company will make a successful transition rather than die of indigestion. At the second annual meeting this week, Dell executives provided some of the latest news on how to deal with the challenge of building a modern IT infrastructure.

Executives acknowledge changing data center trends with Dell, Dell, a traditional PC and Datacenter hardware vendor. While Dell continues to develop its server, storage and PC lineup, the company acquired a large number of quest software companies in 2012, Wyse technology and SonicWALL-just to name a few, and Dell is still in the middle of a dilemma by clearing up ideas and solving problems, Because it meticulously creates the history of a cloud and IT service.

Dell bought quest 2.6 billion dollars last July and continues to tap the company's huge portfolio. Software group Dell's president John Swainson said "products and features as well as features and products".

Dell has integrated some products, but in some cases, even Dell experts cannot agree on what is, what is not, the SKU. Think carefully about the quest company's many aspects of fog lamp performance monitoring technology. At present, the characteristics of various versions of products and immature products, in fact, is not clear.

Similarly, Dell has been focused on key areas, such as Database Tools, which Swenson says will be exacerbated. With backup and restore capabilities, Quest has four products and only one Dell. He said, "We're creating a family."

Meanwhile, Quest's VDI clients have long been left unattended, with some worried about the future of the company's desktop virtualization software, while Dell continues to promote partner Citrix system's VDI offerings. An English quest VDI client says his Dell-quest account manager plans to provide a "roadmap and campaign guarantee" this week.

Dell's strategy remains a mystery

If it seems a little hard to understand from the inside, imagine what it might look like from an IT professional who tries to understand everything.

"[Dell] looks like they don't know what they have and I hope they have a coherent plan," said Dave Adams, chief information officer at the American Enterprise Institute, a Public Policy research agency in Washington, D.C. ”

Another IT manager said he would not mind Dell's rapid acquisition strategy. But he said the company could not sell those services. In other words, Dell's internal communication seems to be doing well; The customer said at least once that he had purchased the product from another third party because he did not know that Dell had a competitive product.

"Dell needs to be closer to its customers," said a director at a large Seattle law firm who asked to remain anonymous.

From a hardware company to a cloud service or solution provider, it seems that Dell has had a hard struggle, considering starting from scratch, rivals such as Amazon, Rackspace, IBM and other companies. But Dell's Swainson says customers may share their work with Amazon, Rackspace or other companies.

Some analysts agree that Dell has a job objective to establish itself as a trusted service and solution provider, although the company is not without some assets to exploit.

Framingham, Mass's IDC analyst David Daaoud, said, "in the corporate market, Dell accounts for a considerable share of the enterprise market where they can leverage existing customer relationships to increase awareness of cloud management and security services, software and storage products, but the problem is: How do they relate these products to a wider range of services and solutions? It's not clear yet. ”

Some Dell customers who are ready to let Dell take the time to find a foothold. A Houston-based oil and gas company Noble Energy runs the internal private cloud of virtual machine management. Due to the nature of its business ownership, Noble will not consider the public cloud. For them, Dell is important because Dell already uses enterprise it.

Because the Nobel Prize, Dell's status has gone through the rise and fall, like HP. A noble Linux system administrator, Rolando De La Fuente, says Dell is already in the right direction. Amazon will not jump to Noble's front line because "[Amazon] has been in the internet age and is 80 years old."

But Dell still has to prove to its customer base that it is increasingly focused on cloud services. Customers expect Dell to introduce cloud business, but will they buy it? "I want to see the product first," says Adams of the American Enterprise Institute.
