This article describes IBM Business Process Manager V8 on IBM pureapplication System. This article assumes that you are familiar with IBM Business Process Manager (IBM BPM) and understand IBM Pureapplication System.
You will also learn how to deploy the BPM pattern using the graphical wizard and create different types of environments on the Pureapplication System. After the deployment is complete, you can create the pattern you want in just a few hours. Developers can then access and use the BPM environment as usual, including downloading and using Process Designer and Integration Designer. Similarly, with integration Designer, you can sync to and deploy Process Center in the cloud, or select Export application files and install them on an offline Process Server.
This article describes how to:

Note: At the time of this writing, IBM Pureapplication System only supports IBM Business Process Management V8 Advanced on 64-bit RHEL.
Pureapplication System Basics
IBM pureapplication System provides a way to virtualize, distribute, optimize, and monitor software applications in the cloud. Pureapplication system is delivered as an integrated system, preloaded with virtual images and patterns that can be used as is, or as templates for your custom virtual images and schemas. In the platform as a service (PaaS) domain, Pureapplication System also assumes responsibility for placing and managing your middleware environment in the cloud, such as Websphere®application Server or IBM Business Process Manager (IBM BPM).
In this article, you will learn how to load an IBM BPM hypervisor image into Pureapplication System, often called a rack, and use a pre-built schema.
In this context, patterns are a logical description of the physical and virtual assets that make up a particular solution. Pureapplication system provides both virtual application patterns and virtual system patterns, which are often referred to as vApp and vsys patterns.
The
Vsys mode provides the highest flexibility and the most customization options in both types. The Vsys mode consists of an operating system and optional other IBM software solutions, such as WebSphere creator Server or IBM BPM. The VAPP mode is a warning to highly optimized, constructed specifically for the purpose of supporting a single workload. The features and functionality of the integrated software include only the required features and functionality. This pattern requires minimal customization during deployment, providing the most direct way to get a quick return on investment
See developerWorks article use Virtual system mode to manage topologies to learn more about Vsys and vApp patterns. For a description of the different mode types supported by the Pureapplication System and how to decide which mode to use, see developerWorks article for IBM pureapplication System Preparation, 2nd Section: Is your application ready for virtualization?
The only one by one models currently supported by IBM BPM are Vsys mode, so we will focus on this pattern.
The pureapplication system has a single graphical user interface with two consoles: the system console and the workload console, as shown in Figure 1. System administrators typically configure cloud groups and IP groups using the system console and use the workload console to load and deploy patterns.
Figure 1. The Pureapplication system user interface shows the workload and the system console
You can check the Pureapplication system directory in the workload console to see if the rack has loaded the BPM image, simply select Workload Console => Catalog => Virtual Images. If the Business Process Manager Advanced image is not found, it is also easy to install. You need to access the appropriate OVA (open virtual application) image file. After the installation is complete, you can use the patterns provided in the image. One of the main advantages of a pattern is that you can use the provided pattern as a template to create your own schema, or even create a new schema from scratch.
