In this article, the author defines ADC and describes how it evolves and works, points out the challenges that cloud environments pose to ADC, introduces a real ADC cloud product that helps develop, and details its adcaas in ibm®http://www.aliyun.com/zixun/ Aggregation/13696.html "How it works in >smartcloud®enterprise and IBM puresystems environments.

Data centers have undergone significant changes in the network and server infrastructure, the number and complexity of applications, user types, and the diversity of end-user devices. But people expect business applications (from ecommerce to CRM, order management, email, collaborative services, etc.) to provide fast response times and 24x7 availability to ensure consistency and seamless access to multiple locations, as well as bulletproof security.

When launching a new service or extending an existing service, the application Delivery controller (creator IBuySpy CONTROLLER,ADC) often plays a key role: they act as "application gateways" that globalize application resources by managing client traffic, and perform granular load distribution, end-to-end application acceleration, bandwidth management, caching, and application and transport security. The result is higher application availability, faster response times, and better security.

ADC Internal

ADC is typically installed after the server farm front-end and the network firewall and Anchor application security gateway, as shown in Figure 1.

Before introducing a real ADC solution in a cloud environment, the remainder of this section describes the evolution of ADC, operational profiling, and the challenges that virtual environments pose to ADC deployments, especially application availability, performance, and security.

ADC evolves into business applications and virtual data centers

The first generation of ADC solutions focuses on common network and application optimization and scalability. Improving service capabilities is simple: after installing and adding a new application server to a server farm, you need to add the new server to the associated ADC traffic redirection policy and start load-balancing traffic between the extended farm servers.

The second-generation ADC solution acknowledges that applications can be better tuned when customized solutions are available for supply. ADC is validated by leading business applications from vendors such as Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, IBM, VMware, and Radware.

Using Data center virtualization ecosystems, keeping pace with dynamic changes in data centers, and truly "conscious" to request-type business applications that need to be scaled up in a cost-effective manner and reduce costs (all of which require a new type of ADC, hence the introduction of the third generation ADC), Provides a complete set of services to ensure the security of physical and virtual data center availability, performance, and mission-critical applications. discussed further in detail later.

How the ADC works

ADC provides a set of features to optimize enterprise application deployment. ADC evolved from underlying load balancing into a set of features that enhance application availability and performance.

The common ADC feature set contains the following features to enhance application availability and performance.

For application availability, ADC can improve application availability and ensure SLAs with the following technologies:

local server load balancing: Ensure a high quality SLA to ensure that the best servers always serve client requests while reducing server overload. Health monitoring: Avoid redirecting traffic to unavailable servers. Global Server load Balancing: Ensuring business continuity and disaster recovery (DR) and ensuring a high quality SLA and quality experience (QoE) for services deployed globally. Link High Availability: Promote reliable, scalable, Low-cost site connectivity while optimizing application End-to-end response time.

In the area of application performance, ADC accelerates application performance, shortens application response times, and uninstalls server processing, including:

TLS Uninstall: Maximize server infrastructure utilization by uninstalling server processing tasks and increasing delayed encryption/decryption tasks while the server is executing. Caching: Using the static and dynamic caching of the ADC, intelligently sends the browser to the ADC to deliver faster page loads. Other compression techniques: reduced content size, number of connections, and TCP protocol optimizations.
