In July 1962, the all-non-women's first congress held in Dar es Salaam, the All-Africa Women's Conference was established (now Pan African Women's Organization) and the annual July 30th was " African Women's Day. " The congress of this organization and major celebrations are held on this day. The Pan African Women's Organization is an all-non-governmental women's organization affiliated with the Organization of African Unity and enjoys "OAU" observer status. Formerly known as All-African Women's Conference, the founding assembly was held in Dar-es-Salaam in July 1962 at the initiative of Ghana, Guinea and Tanzania. In 1974 at the Fourth Congress changed its name now.
