Easily make self-extracting files under Windows XP

When it comes to making self-extracting files, many friends will immediately think of some famous compression software. In fact, if your operating system is Windows XP, you don't have to do this, because Windows XP has prepared a handy self-extracting file making tool for us.

Open the Start menu and enter IExpress in the Run dialog box to open the IExpress Wizard interface (Figure 1).

1. First, the tool prompts us to create a management file for this self-extracting file to hold information about the self-extracting program. Select Create New Self extraction Directive file. If the relevant information file already exists, select the "Open existing Self Extraction Directive file" entry and use the "http://www.aliyun.com/zixun/aggregation/ 16411.html ">browse" button to locate this file.

2. After clicking "Next", enter the compression file type selection interface (Figure 2). There are three options: ①extract files and run an installation command (create an installer); ②extract files only (Create a common self-extracting file); ③create compressed Files only (Create a cabinet file with no self-extracting function). We should choose the second item.

3. Click "Next" to enter the "Package title" interface, where the program requires us to enter the solution of the package when the title bar of all dialog window displayed on the text, you can enter any.

4. If you want to use the tool to create the installation program, then in the next "confirmation Prompt" and "License agreement" interface you can fill in the hint Information and authorization agreement. Since we are making a self-extracting program so do not have to fill out, skip it.

5. In the "Package File" dialog box, click the "Add" button to add the compressed file to the list box. If you want to remove a file, click the Remove button. After setting, click "Next" to enter the "Show Windows" interface to select the state of the program window when unpacking the package. There are four options, "Default", "Hidden" (hidden), "minimized" (minimized), and "maximized" (maximized). Select Default.

6. Select the "Display message" item in the "Finished messages" interface to set an end for your self-extracting package. such as "The file has been successfully unpacked" and so on (Figure 3).

7. Go to the Package name and Options interface to enter the address and name of the compressed package (Figure 4). If you do not want to see the decompression progress bar in the self-extracting process, you can select the Hidden file extracting Progress Animation from User entry, and if you want to create a package that supports long file names, you can use the Store files using long The File Name inside Package item is selected.
