During the "Eleven-Five" period, the food consumption of urban residents increased steadily. 2010 Urban residents per capita food expenditure of 4805 yuan, an increase of 64.9% in 2005, an annual growth of 10.5%. Food expenditure as a proportion of consumer spending (Engel coefficient) fell from 36.7% in 2005 to 35.7% in 2010, down 1%. The decline of Engel's coefficient marks the further improvement of living standard of urban residents.
