According to a survey by Donald W. Reynolds journalism Cato, a significant majority of users in 2013 Q1 read news via smartphones and tablets. Tablets are an ideal news-reading tool, and users spend 50 times times more time reading news on tablets than mobile phones. Overall, print newspaper news readers have a slightly lower percentage of the overall population reading news on their mobile phones. Given that 12.7% of print newspaper news subscribers say they may cancel their newspaper subscriptions in the coming year, this is a good opportunity for mobile reading.
