EMC survey finds significant differences in data recognition across countries

"Tenkine Server channel December 17" EMC Corporation today released the results of a market survey of tens of thousands of IT decision makers in 50 countries around the world. The survey aims to understand the challenges and opportunities that large data and it change and related skills may pose for their companies in the eyes of these decision-makers. In the past 6 months, a total of 10,700 business executives and IT managers, technical architects, data scientists, and storage/infrastructure managers from various industries registered with the EMC Forum and participated in the survey.

Main findings

Enterprises continue to seek it innovation, and actively participate in the international and domestic market competition:

76% of policymakers say their companies believe technology investment is a strategic way to achieve corporate goals. (Indian 92% vs. UK 65%)

3 major drivers of IT systems and infrastructure change: Better business processes, innovative products and solutions, and enhanced customer experience.

66% of policymakers say they have the right skills and knowledge to succeed in achieving business-focused goals. (Singapore 82% vs. Ireland 52%)

75% of policymakers said it was a challenge for their businesses to ensure that skills updates followed the pace of it innovation over the next 3 years.

68% of policymakers said it was ready to achieve the most important corporate goals, and now the biggest obstacle is cultural issues. (Korea 90% vs. Poland 39%)

Large data are significantly improving the level of business decision making and have a significant impact on the ability of firms to differentiate and evade risk.

Of the companies surveyed, 79% said that making the most of the big data helped improve business decision making. (North American 84% vs. Germany 56%)

58% it decision-makers involved in the survey believe that big data will be a key factor in determining the success or failure of the industry. (Korea 81% vs. Sweden 29%)

36% of companies have gained a competitive advantage by adopting large data analysis techniques. (Taiwan 79% vs. Japan 16%)

56% of policymakers believe that large data technology plays an indispensable role in identifying cyber attacks and protecting information security. (China 74% vs. Finland 36%)

Nearly 30% (29%) of companies surveyed said there were no plans to implement large data technology. (Italian 43% vs. China 9%)

For overall business decisions, in addition to the most important factor in the budget, the most common causes that impede large data adoption include the absence of clear business cases or proven ROI (35%), Business relevance (23%), and corporate culture that are not yet ready for large data (22%).

Hélène Barnekow, senior vice president of EMC Global front-end marketing and channel marketing, said, "We are not surprised that three-fourths of companies see it as a key factor in achieving their goals over the next two years." After all, it can help companies improve efficiency in a challenging economic environment, while providing innovative platforms for products and customers. Surprisingly, one-third of companies have yet to consider using large data solutions. As more and more individuals and companies understand the benefits of large data analysis technologies, we expect this to change in the near future. The survey has made us realize that in order to achieve the full dividends of it change, companies must change the people and processes at the same time as the technical level. ”
