Enterprisedb adds cloud support for PostgreSQL

If you're planning to migrate your database to a public or private cloud computing environment, the Postgres Plus Cloud Server that Enterprisedb just released in Thursday is for you.

Enterprisedb's Postgres plus Standard server and Postgres plus Advanced server products are based on the PostgreSQL open source database and are expanded to provide web-based Management of cluster database nodes, including automatic load balancing and automatic fault migration. Provides a variety of monitoring capabilities to support online backup and data recovery at a specified point in time.

The product includes Standard Edition and high-level, which contains Enterprisedb compatibility layer for Oracle databases.

The first-published cloud server supports Amazon EC2 and includes Gogrid. Support for private clouds is limited to Eucalyptus software that uses a GPL-licensed protocol. Cloud servers can also be directly distributed to traditional data centers without cloud architecture.

The product will be released in September, and the 1.0 official edition will be released in November.
