Ericsson responds to India's temporary proximity to Millet: January 8 rejects all millet claims

December 17, in response to India's temporary ban on millet mobile phone reports, Ericsson issued a statement said, confident in the hearing on January 8 dismissed Millet's full claim.

December 8 This year, India's Delhi High Court passed a unilateral ban on millet in the Indian market selling millet mobile phones. India is the largest overseas market for millet. Both Millet and India's e-commerce partner, Flipkart.com, are barred from manufacturing and selling mobile phones or tablet PCs in the Indian market on the grounds that they could violate Ericsson's wireless technology patents. Millet then stopped selling these products in the Indian market, "waiting for a new notice."

The Ericsson Indian subsidiary has sued Millet in court because it tried to communicate with the latter on patent matters, but many contacts have not been answered.

December 16, the Indian High Court temporarily lifted a ban on millet handsets, claiming that millet mobile phones will temporarily be able to enter the Indian market, provided that the millet mobile phones into India can only be configured Qualcomm produced chips. But the ban period is extended until another hearing is held next January 8.

The following is the Ericsson statement:

The Indian court today granted millet a temporary permit to continue importing the mobile phone based on Qualcomm chips to India, subject to the precondition of the 100 Indian rupee to be lodged in court for each device.

This is an interim resolution of the court before its careful investigation. Ericsson is confident that the defendants ' full claims will be dismissed at the next hearing scheduled for January 8. It will be clarified in the upcoming hearings that Millet needs to obtain Ericsson's patent authority for all its handsets to be imported into India.

In order to be able to continuously invest in research, develop new ideas, new standards and new platforms to promote industrial development, we must make a reasonable return for our research and development investment. We look forward to working with millet in order to achieve a fair and reasonable outcome for both parties, as we have done with all other authorised persons.
