Ericsson (Nasdaq:eric) recently announced that the company, through its Lg-ericsson and South Korea wireless service provider LG U+ signed a commercial contract, the LG U+ will be the construction of ultra-high-speed LTE commercial network. Through this agreement, LG u+ will be able to support the existing CDMA network and 4G LTE mobile service network, thus becoming the first in Korea to provide faster data transmission rate and better service quality of the LTE service provider. As the industry leader in mobile network design, deployment, integration and support services, Ericsson will help LG U+ formally launch the LTE business in South Korea in July 2011. Under the contract, Ericsson will be responsible for the construction of the LTE network for the 25 million population in the Seoul and metropolitan area, as well as the evolving cluster core network, the LTE base station and the optical fiber repeater for access and transmission. The project will be officially launched in May this year and completed in 2012. Using LTE's services, consumers will be able to enjoy high-speed mobile broadband services, including High-definition video, voice and data, which are six times times faster than existing 3G mobile technologies. In the early stages, consumers will access the LTE network via an encrypted dog to obtain the relevant services. In the future, with the popularity of dedicated handheld terminals for LTE, consumers will be expected to get richer LTE business. "Ericsson has successfully launched the world's first LTE commercial network, and has accumulated unparalleled technology, experience and expertise," said Olsson Mats H Olsson, president of Ericsson China and East Asia: "We will now work with LG U+ to launch a critical project." We will not only promote the partnership with LG U+, but also promote the development of the LTE network in Korea. "In September 2010, LG u+ selected LTE equipment suppliers, and eventually chose Ericsson as the evolving Group Core network (EPC) and LTE wireless Base station (ENODEB) provider.
