EU abolishes roaming fee to promote single telecom market

Krose will submit the proposal to the European Parliament in Thursday in the hope of achieving network neutrality in Europe as soon as possible, providing a single telecommunications market next year and creating a favourable environment for European mobile operators. Krose said that a single telecoms market could promote the digital economy in Europe and thus establish political ties.

Krose's country, the Netherlands, became the first EU country to pass a network neutrality act in May 2012, and Krose hopes to cover the entire EU region with net neutrality. Krose expects the proposal to be approved and implemented by the 3721.html ">2014" before Easter.

Krose also said the proposal has been supported by several EU agencies. The emergence of a single telecommunications market will end the consumer's woes over roaming and encourage telecoms companies to invest in the European mobile infrastructure sector.

Krose said that in the process of moving towards a single telecommunications market, we cannot afford any unnecessary man-made obstacles. Currently, roaming fees across Europe are already low.
