The US Evernote company plans to install servers in Beijing to support its app, allowing users to write and access records from each device. This will improve the company's service in China, but at the same time it will attract regulation.

Phil Libin, Evernote's CEO, said in an interview that China was the hardest market to conquer. Silicon Valley companies are mostly frustrated when they enter the world's largest internet market. But he wants to "go first into the hardest market, into the deepest pool, that's what we want to run." ”

Once regulatory approval is available, Evernote plans to operate in China at the fastest pace. Li Bin said it would be the Evernote company to set up a server in the second country. Setting up a server overseas to respond to Beijing's request, the service will become slow and unstable.

But there is also the risk of setting up a server in Beijing, which is the regulatory problem. "We are concerned about all such problems," Li Bin said. But not because of these worries become inch ... It would be unrealistic to prevent Chinese regulators from legally accessing Chinese data. Most Chinese people are not worried about such problems. ”

Although Evernote has some sharing and social functions, it is mostly provided to individual users for personal record information, such as billing, school assignments, newspaper clippings, which are stored in Evernote cloud servers.

Evernote plans to provide Chinese users with products to store data locally, to comply with data protection laws and to be as open and transparent as possible. If the Evernote program is approved, Evernote will have 30 employees in China by the end of the year, with 170 employees worldwide Evernote.

Evernote in the United States to provide Chinese version of the service, it has 1.1 million Chinese users, the world has 30 million users. The local build server, in addition to allowing speed and stability to improve, but also allows Evernote to work with Chinese developers to develop complementary software.

Li Bin said he hoped Evernote would accept Chinese yuan payments. In addition to fee-based services, Evernote also offers free service. After paying, you can clear the advertising display, or you can search for print or handwritten text in a digital picture.

Chinese users account for 4% of Evernote's total users, but their paid subscribers account for only 1% of total paid subscribers. Li Bin blames the lack of payment options on the low proportion of Evernote China's paid users, not because of low demand in China.

Evernote is partnering with one of the latest investors, China's broadband industry fund, to establish a joint venture in China. This month, Evernote raised $70 million to a group of investors, valued at $1 billion trillion.
