Robert Schiller, author of Yale University Professor Keith Shiller's house price Index, 7th in the New York Times predicted that U.S. house prices will continue to fall in the coming years. Schiller predicts that U.S. house prices will continue to fall or stagnate in 2010-2011. In May, the median house price in 20 major U.S. cities fell 32% from the peak in July 2006, according to the Kaiser-Schiller house price Index, released by the company. House prices will not rebound too quickly, Schiller said. Historically, housing prices began to rebound 6 years after the 1990-1991 housing bubble burst, while Japan's housing prices continued to fall in the 15 years after the bursting of the housing bust in 1991.
