On July 25, according to a technology blog site, insiders disclosed that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg met with Uber CEO Travis Kalanick to negotiate Uber's taxi service Integration in Facebook Messenger matters.

An insider said: "The two sides just have such an idea, but also far from the stage of the specific implementation, but this is the development direction of Facebook Messenger."

Facebook Messenger and Uber taxi service integration benefit both companies and their users. This will be Facebook's first step in following Facebook, the Asian messaging service WeChat and Line, to make Facebook Messenger the e-commerce platform.

Facebook and Uber did not comment on this.

How Uber should be integrated in Facebook Messenger? In Uber's most popular market, users use Uber services weekly or even daily. Facebook's idea is that consolidating a popular service will help drive the growth of Facebook Messenger users. For example, in China, wechat users can hire a taxi through the integrated taxi service.

A similar partnership benefits both Facebook and Uber. Facebook will add a new service to help it get more users pay for the information for the future development of e-commerce or payment services to lay the foundation. Facebook announced last week that it is testing a "Buy" button that lets users buy ads or posts without having to leave their site.

Working with Facebook will give Uber new access to millions of potential users. Zuckerberg said in April, Facebook Messenger monthly active users of 200 million. For Uber, integrating with other platforms is not the first time. In May, Uber announced its cooperation with Google Maps. It is not yet clear whether the partnership will encourage new users to continue to drive through Facebook Messenger or take a taxi through Uber's application.

Facebook recently hired PayPal president David Marcus to run the Facebook Messenger service to help shape its revenue-generating strategy. Zuckerberg yesterday in the earnings analyst conference call said that Facebook will be slowly, not in a hurry to generate revenue through Facebook Messenger. (bamboo)
