Netease Technology News July 18, according to Reuters reported that Facebook has begun testing new "Buy" button on its Web site. This button is associated with an ad on the platform. By clicking, the user will be able to directly purchase the advertised product.
The move is another important step for Facebook to embark on e-commerce. The company said on Thursday it would be the first to test the new services in the U.S. market in small trials, with the new Buy button appearing on both the mobile and desktop Facebook pages.
"The credit card information that users provide to Facebook to complete the purchase transaction will not be shared with other advertisers, and the user can choose whether or not to have the payment information stored on the platform for future operations," said Facebook.
According to a person familiar with the matter, Facebook is not withdrawn from user purchases at this stage, and credit card-based transactions are currently handled by third-party payment solutions companies.
Facebook launched in 2012 to users for the purchase of gifts such as socks, teddy bears and other small service. But only lasted a year, the company stopped any further sales of physical goods to users. At present, the user can only buy the kind of gift card printed on Facebook by using the platform. (Lu Xin)
