Facebook teamed up with operators to push mobile-phone versions of websites, with users free of charge.
Tencent Science and Technology (compiled/Chinese tao) Beijing time May 19 News, according to foreign media reports, the U.S. social networking site Facebook announced in Tuesday, has signed a cooperation agreement with 50 mobile operators around the world to launch a global Compact mobile phone version of the Facebook site. In the course of accessing the website, the operator will not charge the user any data flow charges.
Facebook's mobile web site, called "0.facebook.com," is designed to make mobile broadband access to Facebook more quickly for mobile users in underdeveloped countries and regions. The website only supports textual content and is scheduled to open in 40 countries and regions around the world in Tuesday, including Brazil, India, Indonesia and Turkey. Because the site is mainly for international market users, the United States, the major mobile operators did not participate in this cooperation.
Expand the scale
At the F8 technology conference in San Francisco, USA last month, Facebook announced the launch of the Open Graph API project and social services to allow external sites to integrate Facebook user data. Facebook's launch of a mobile version of its website for global users is no doubt a further expansion of Facebook's market size and range of services.
Facebook says about One-fourth of its current 400 million users are logged on through mobile devices. Facebook, which works with a number of mobile operators around the world, hopes that users who do not yet have high-end smartphones, such as Apple's iphone, Google Android or rim BlackBerry, can visit Facebook regularly and extend the site's stay.
Henri Moissinac, head of mobile business at Facebook, said: "We want to provide solutions to Henry Moisnak users who have not yet got a mobile internet experience so they can access Facebook more quickly." For this segment of users, they are usually more sensitive to the cost of traffic data. But for American iphone users, there is no such problem at all. ”
Our Partners
Among Facebook's mobile operator partners are India's reliance, Vodafone India, T Hungary and Vodafone Greece, among others. Mobile phone users who are partners with Facebook mobile operators are not required to pay any data flow charges during their visit to Facebook's mobile web site.
Facebook's mobile web site offers a wide range of features in its regular version of the site, such as information delivery, messages and information from the site, and so on, but does not support any picture or video information. If the mobile version of the user clicks on such pictures and video content links, mobile operators will be charged according to their respective fees and charges to users of data flow charges.
Moisnak said that in the above cooperation, Facebook does not pay any fees to mobile operator partners, and there is no revenue-sharing agreement between Facebook and these mobile operators. Although Facebook's mobile web site is mainly for mobile phone users in developing countries, mobile users in developed countries such as the UK and Finland can also visit the site.
Allfacebook, the US Science and technology blog, said in Monday that Facebook would hold a grand celebration at the current rate of growth, when Facebook's global user capacity is expected to break through the 500 million mark by the end of next month.
