According to foreign media reports, Baidu's CEO Robin Li, at the U.S. Sun Valley Media Summit, suggested that foreign internet companies such as Facebook should quickly enter the Chinese market.
At the Sun Peak, Li talked about the challenges that companies will face in entering the Chinese market. Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook's CEO, had previously said he wanted to enter the Chinese market.
"I think companies like Facebook should consider the Chinese market, and if they are right and patient enough, they should have a chance," said Li. But time flies, the internet market is growing fast, and there are many challenges. If you don't move quickly, you'll lose your chance. ”
Google's market share in China fell from 35.6% to 30.9% in the first quarter of this year, while Baidu's market share increased from 58.4% to 64%.
China currently has 400 million netizens and is still in rapid development. But in terms of income, China's internet market is still small. But as netizens account for only 30% of China's population, there is still enough potential to attract foreign companies.
In an interview with the media, Li said he intends to expand globally. The company has sent representatives to the Silicon Valley to recruit engineers for search, infrastructure and systems architecture.
"We are currently involved in the Chinese and Japanese markets," said Li, "and we are likely to enter dozens of markets over the next 5-10 years." The Chinese market is big enough for us to expand with the money that is available in the market. ”
