As new technologies such as cloud computing, big data, solid state drives (SSDs), converged systems, and automation continue to evolve and improve, the design and operation of data centers will become more complex than before. 2013 has come, what do businesses need to do to maximize the benefits of their data center?

IDC, a market-analysis firm, said that if businesses want to maximize the benefits of their data centers, they need to think carefully about how they do in 2013.
IDC Research Director Donna Taylor told Data Center World in London last week that new technologies are being developed to improve the design of data centers and complicate operations. Especially including cloud computing, big data, solid state drives (SSDs), converged systems and automated technologies.
cloud computing
Taylor said that IDC sees more and more people adopting public, private and hybrid clouds across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and that businesses are less concerned with cloud computing security than in previous years. However, Europe, the Middle East and Africa are still using the cloud less than the United States, and they still have a long way to go.
Big Data
Taylor said companies are not investing in big data. "We found out that some people do not understand what big data means and they missed a huge opportunity."
Almost half (44%) of the 1603 companies involved in IDC's European vertical capital markets believe that they will add more capacity to make use of big data.
storage
The rise of solid state drives can help data centers take full advantage of their capabilities.
"While this new type of storage will change the performance of the data center, there are also signs that as a very small number of SSDs can replace a large number of disks in the data center, this will affect power cooling and footprint in the data center," Taylor said. The problem."
Fusion system
Optimizing the management of storage, server, network, and storage servers so that they work together, the whole is called a converged system.
Last September's IDC Convergence System survey showed that more advanced and larger customers use converged systems to increase business agility and employee productivity.
Taylor said that 21% of the 300 companies surveyed agree to adopt converged systems that they have used or will use in the next three years. "From an end-user perspective, a converged system offers so much performance that it should be able to overcome any vendor lock-in."
automation
Taylor said data centers are increasingly relying on automation so they can put their IT staff in more important jobs. She added: "They want more room for their IT staff so they can not only do their data center work efficiently, but more importantly, they also generate more revenue for the organization."
