Apple has filed "iwatch" trademark applications in 5 countries, including Japan, Mexico, Russia, Turkey and Colombia, as well as Taiwan(China), according to 9to5mac, the US technology blog.
In Monday, it was reported that Apple had submitted a document applying for "iwatch" trademarks in Japan. In addition, some Internet users and websites have found that Apple has also submitted similar applications to IPR protection agencies in a number of other countries.
According to the company's latest application to the Mexican Industrial Property Agency, the iwatch trademark relates to two categories of hardware and software for mobile devices. The application was submitted on June 3, but it was only recently made public.
In addition, Apple also submitted iwatch trademark applications to Turkey and Russia on June 3, and submitted the same application to Colombia on June 4. At the same time, it has submitted relevant documents to the Intellectual Property Office of the Taiwan (China)Region of China for obtaining iwatch trademarks.
The move suggests that Apple is indeed developing a new wearable device that is expected to be the first to register iwatch trademarks in various markets around the world. In fact, it is the company's consistent stance that it used the same strategy when launching other new devices.
Earlier this year, Bloomberg reported that Apple would launch the so-called iwatch smart watch this year, which is currently under the leadership of Apple's design director Joni Aivy Jony Ive, with more than 100 engineers involved.
Apple Insider, a technology blogger, also recently cited a report by KGI Securities analyst Guo Mingchi that the company's smart watch could be launched in 2014. Earlier, Guo Mingchi had repeatedly predicted Apple's products and release times.
It is worth mentioning that wearable computing equipment is a hot spot in the current technology industry, in addition to rumors that Google, Samsung, Microsoft LG and other companies will develop similar smart watch equipment, Foxconn recently demonstrated a binding iphone smart watch, and Sony also officially launched a few days ago smartwatch 2.
