Novell and the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) announced the introduction of a vendor neutrality agreement to provide cloud providers with the industry's first cloud security certification, education and Promotion program. This program, called the trusted Cloud protocol, will help cloud vendors develop industry-recognized, secure, interoperable identity, access, and compliance management configurations and practices. Now, the cloud-based institutions are being considered to have a trustworthy standard that eliminates their concerns about the security, governance, and control of data and it assets.
"How to manage identities in the cloud or in an environment associated with the cloud is a huge barrier to enterprise adoption of cloud services." "Currently a member of CSA board," said Alan Boehme, senior vice president of IT strategy and enterprise structure at ING Group. "By building a consistent security reference and certification program, we are creating a common foundation for businesses and cloud vendors and looking to accelerate the universalization of cloud applications." ”
"In traditional IT environments, organizations control their applications, servers, and storage infrastructures." However, for the public cloud products, the control structure has undergone profound changes. "The CSA executive director Jim Reavis said. "When an organization moves IT resources and sensitive data such as personal names, addresses, and phone numbers to the cloud, control and trust issues must be addressed through a trusted Third-party certification program." As a result, we agreed immediately after Novell's submission of the agreement. ”
"Our clients need a visible security badge." We firmly believe that education, clear and industry-approved safety standards will promote the adoption of cloud computing by eliminating the security concerns of many organizations. "Novell company identity and Security Design vice President, CSA member Dipto Chakravarty said." "Our company's experience and leadership in cloud security and identity management demonstrates that Novell will steadfastly contribute to a trusted cloud agreement." ”
Certification standards, safety assurance stamps and plans will be defined by members of the Cloud Security Alliance, a non-profit organization that is set up to promote the application of the best practice approach to cloud computing environment security. CSA members represent industry stakeholders, end user organizations, cloud services, SaaS, and technology providers. These include Novell, Microsoft, Dell, Rackspace, Qualys, HP, Intel, Cisco, McAfee, Isaca, DMTF, and Symantec. As well as representatives from the global top 2000 listed companies and government departments around the world. Nick Nikols, vice president of Novell Identity and security product management, will serve as co-chairman. Ebay's chief security strategist, Liam Lynch, will also serve as co-chairmen.
According to Zynga CSO, CSA board members Nils Puhlmann, the agreement was presented at the opportune time. "We know that there are some standards on cloud computing that are being worked out, and that CSA is actually involved in all of these standards." We are committed to the implementation of the Trust cloud Agreement with other standardization work, as a responsible industry partner. "Puhlmann said. "But to make this project so timely, we can bring together the reference models and certification standards of existing standards and we will complete this work in 2010." I would like to express my thanks to Novell for helping to launch this important project. ”
The focus of this program is to improve the understanding of security, identity and access, compliance, data governance, portability, and interoperability requirements within the enterprise and cloud provider's internal information security, it audit and software development professionals. These requirements are necessary for organizations to embody compliance and mitigate risk in the cloud.
