According to data released by market research firm AppData, King has overtaken Zynga to become the number one gaming company on the Facebook platform in terms of active subscribers per month.

Zynga recently appointed Tang Matrick (Don Mattrick) as the new CEO. At the same time, Zynga has been overtaken by King in terms of the number of active users of Facebook's platform games per month. AppData's data show that on Facebook, King has a monthly active user number of 150.2 million, while Zynga is 149.9 million. This means that the industry leader will change unless Zynga recovers growth.

King has now hired JPMorgan, Credit Suisse and Bank of America as underwriters for the company's IPO.

Zynga this week announced the appointment of Mattrick, the former head of Microsoft Entertainment, as the new CEO, and Zynga's founder and incumbent CEO Mark Ping Cass (Mark Pincus) will serve as chairman and chief Product officer.

Over the years, Zynga has been a leading player in the social gaming industry with popular games such as "FarmVille". Zynga was the most successful Third-party company on the Facebook platform. But since the IPO in 2011, the company has failed to reproduce its previous successes, especially in the mobile gaming arena. At present, users are spending more and more time on mobile devices.

At the same time, founded in 2003, King in London with the "Candy Crush Saga" and other games developed rapidly, and from the beginning of 2006 to achieve profitability. In March 2012, the company's number of independent users reached 20 million. Currently, about half of the company's users come from mobile devices.

Since 2011, King has been developing casual games and moving into the Facebook platform. The company usually tests new games on the King.com website, and only the most successful games will be transferred to other platforms such as Facebook. King is very good at developing cross-platform games that make the game fit for both mobile devices and desktops. And that's what Zynga needs to solve in the future.
