Dell continues to enrich their cloud computing offerings, and has recently launched an integrated cloud solution based on the latest Xeon 5600 architecture. At the same time, Dell continues to promote a broader and more comprehensive solution, rather than a simple product.

From the new product we can see that Dell is focusing on services and solutions, rather than being a hardware provider to allow IBM to benefit from a more profitable service business. Dell acquired Perot Bae last year and then acquired the second service company Kace earlier this year, greatly enhancing their service capabilities.

Dell highlighted two strategies for migrating to the cloud: Innovative strategies for green deployments and evolutionary strategies for using existing systems. Dell delivers Dell Cloud Solution for WEB applications to new deployments, the All-in-one private platform, the service product, developed jointly by Dell and cloud manufacturer Joyent, which provides predictive testing, pre-built, and fully supported hardware, software, and services. Dell will provide all of these sales and support.

For users who take advantage of existing systems, Dell has launched the cloud Partner Program, claiming that it makes it easier for users to purchase and deploy cloud solutions. Dell has collaborated with VMware and Microsoft to provide virtualization services, and now adds Aster data for network analytics, a canonical that provides open source infrastructure, a service-private cloud, and a greenplum for self-service data warehouses.

Dell unveiled a series of new PowerEdge C-series servers for a large cloud computing environment in Wednesday. Dell says the PowerEdge C-series new servers are inspired by the data center solution business. The Data Center solution Department sells servers to a large cloud-computing infrastructure vendor, but its target is a series of buyers, without taking into account the size of the buyer's market.

Cloud computing typically refers to remote access to applications or information stored in a data center server, rather than accessing applications or information stored on the local PC. Dell C-Series servers are focused on dense, busy cloud computing ecosystems, such as Network service providers, Facebook and other social networking vendors, and independent companies that build a "private cloud" environment for internal use.

Dell did not disclose new product prices and new products will be bundled with services to help buyers manage cloud computing. According to Gartner, the market analyst, Dell is the world's third-largest server company in terms of revenue, after HP and IBM. Dell only manufactures x86 servers with industry-standard components.

Make cloud computing simple and scalable

All of this revolves around Dell's "simplifying it" strategy. "Efficiency is not just a product, but a simple and scalable application platform that can be deployed in an outward-expanding hardware vendor," said Forrest Norrod, vice president and server Platform Manager at Dell Inc. That is the key to what we are talking about today. ”

Still hardware core

Of course, Dell is still a hardware-focused manufacturer, so there are also moves in hardware. Dell says it will upgrade the PowerEdge server product line as Intel releases its latest Nehalem-ex high-end Xeon processor this week.

In addition, Dell has unveiled a PowerEdge C-series server for cloud systems and high-performance computing. The PowerEdge C1100 is a compute node server with high memory, energy efficiency and cluster optimization; C2100 is a high-performance data analysis, cloud computing platform and cloud storage server; C6100 is a shared infrastructure server for four-node, cloud-optimized, and cluster-optimized.

Finally, Dell announced that it would expand its storage partnership with EMC and launch a new target storage system.
