Domain Name Registration Experience a review and reflection

Therefore, I wrote this article for the purpose of my 2007 domain name registration experience of a review and reflection, but also hope to give later friends a reference.

Shortly after March 2006 when I first joined M3 (the company's English name starts with M, a total of 3 letters, the same below), I thought that if our company could take over the competitor A3, if I were the boss I'm sure that's it. But am I the boss? So, I'm going to do it another way: I signed up for a Yahoo Mail with the name M3A3, and proudly emailed it to my colleagues - I'm very happy with my "idea."

The next thing seems to make me a prophet.

On October 30, 2006, M3's parent companies, S17 and A3, issued a joint announcement that the two companies have reached a merger agreement and plan. On March 6, 2007, S17 completed the acquisition of A3 and A3 and S17's M3 (All of them are industry-leading world-class companies, so "strong" is not over-merged) to form a new company A3M3, along with a new 3wdot A3M3 dot com February 2007 registration).

Immediately, my mind has emerged a new idea: investment domain name. To do a good job, I quickly registered users in 4S (service providers Chinese name a total of four Chinese characters, Pinyin initials S, the same below), and on August 7 for the first time registered two Chinese domain name.

Why is my action so fast?

If I come into contact with the domain name a year earlier, maybe my "idea" was not a registered email address, but a registered domain name. If I sign up for A3M3.COM/.BIZ/.CN, then the newly formed A3M3 is unable to legally redeem the domain name. The reason is very simple, when I register, A3M3 has not yet been born. So, A3M3 can only buy me the most suitable domain name, then, I at least make a small profit.

Therefore, I do not want to miss the next A3M3.

With the above simple idea, I started the so-called domain name investment. Later think about it, this behavior is really impulsive. In particular, it costs 280 yuan to sign up for a Chinese domain name that can only be collected by oneself. It is too wronged - 80 yuan registered in 3Z; aside from the return on investment, this does not meet the investment target selection principle.

The day after I signed up for the 4S domain name, I discovered that some other service providers had much lower domain name registration fees than 4S. Because my main purpose is to invest, not to use it myself, so I think such an investment cost too high for a cheap registrar.

Through the search, I chose a relatively cheap one registrar 4W, registered a .COM domain name spent a total of 90 yuan.

Later, I found a "gold medal" 4Z on CNNIC's official website, and their "Buy Now 19" attracted me, at least .CN domain name registration price cheaper than the 4S and 4W.

As I put more time into the domain name, I found another good place 3Z. 3Z is the core agent of 4Z, its registered price of 1CN domain name is very attractive, and 3Z is a major exchange platform for domestic grassroots webmasters, its reputation, philosophy, and even owners are commendable. So, naturally, I became a registered member of 3Z.

Since then, I have basically invested 3Z funds and time. Influenced by the "one dollar policy" of the .CN domain name, and my concept of price, I did not register a .CN domain name with 1 yuan as money. December 30, 2007, I spent the last 3 yuan in the pre-deposit, a total of 53 domain names registered, invested 230 yuan.

My total domain name registration in 2007 was 88, of which two Chinese domain name, COM domain name five, CN domain name 81. More than half of the 88 domain names registered as impulsive (feverish, self-perceived) account for about 60% of the total. About 10% of the remaining domains are "rational". So I try to register the user for free in S4, a well-known domain name trading community, and add more than 30 domain names to prepare for sale. At the same time, I forward the URLs of some domain names to the S4 parking page. Operational results are not satisfactory. Among the domain names I added, only .COM domain names could be "FOR SALE" and all other .CN domain names were "NOT FOR SALE." I do not know why, because both domains are added in bulk at the same time. In addition, all parking is invalid. I can not do anything: S4 is the English station, English is my flawed, so I can not find a solution in the S4 FAQ; I posted in several domain forums for help and did not get effective help; search engine also failed to provide me with useful information. I feel helpless, the future is slim.

Since then, I gradually lost the initial passion, become slack, rarely log S4.
