GitHub no longer supports IE browsers in Windows XP from January 5

According to VentureBeat, due to security vulnerabilities, the GitHub Web site encryption protocol will no longer support the RC4 cipher suite since January 5, resulting in the result that users of Windows XP systems will not be able to connect to GitHub with IE browsers.

Microsoft has no longer supported updates to Windows XP, which use outdated sockets sockets and are vulnerable to attack. GitHub recommends that affected users upgrade Windows systems or use other browsers such as Chrome and Firefox to access the Web site.

RC4 was the early and widely used stream cipher suite developed by Ron Rivest in 1987. For security vulnerabilities, Microsoft proposed in November 2013 that developers abandon RC4, which still has 43% of websites using the cipher kit. Microsoft then elaborated the problem of the key schedule algorithm in RC4, and suggested that the developer switch to the Secure Transport Layer protocol version 1.2.
