Global server Q1 revenue decline 4.1%, Asia-Pacific growth 3.3%

HP (HP) continued to maintain a global lead in server shipments in the first quarter of 2014 (see table 2), although its shipments decreased by 7.9% per cent compared with the same period in 2013. HP (HP) global server shipments accounted for 22.6%, while Dell ranked second in the 19.7% market share.

Of the top five of global server shipments, only Huawei and the wave have achieved shipments growth in the first quarter of 2014, by 61% and 288.7% per cent respectively. It is also the first time the wave has been among the world's top five server shipping companies.

In terms of the type of server appearance, the x86 blades dropped 3.9% this quarter, but revenue grew 5.2% per cent. 2014 first quarter rack-optimized server shipments climbed 1.4%, while revenue grew 1.7%.
