China's network equipment maker Huawei will enter the http://www.aliyun.com/zixun/aggregation/14219.html "> mobile App Store market, launch its own platform and provide the platform to telecom operators around the world."

Huawei launched its digital mall in Monday with 80,000 apps and lots of music, video clips and e-books. "Huawei sees the digital mall as an up-to-date solution for telecoms operators," said George Huang, vice president of Huawei Software. These carriers want to provide users with a powerful mobile app store, but they don't invest the necessary resources and use the time to build the App Store.

Using this approach, Huang says, if carriers are to launch many applications, they can use Huawei's hosted platform. So far, we have not seen the mature solutions we will offer.

Huawei's Digital mall is larger than other app stores, such as Apple's itunes store. itunes applies only to Apple products such as the iphone. Huawei's digital mall apps are available for different mobile operating systems, such as Android, Windows Mobile, and Symbian. At the same time, Huawei brings together applications from various countries around the world. Telecom operators will be able to follow their own customers to the digital mall to provide their own users.

Huawei Digital Mall takes a downloadable mobile application approach and uses social networking features designed to organize contacts and recommend products to friends. Users of Huawei's digital mall also have the option of paying their own mobile phone bills to pay for their purchases without using a credit card.

There are no telecom operators signed Huawei Digital Mall. But in launching the new platform, Huawei wants telecoms operators to join in and start offering the store to its users.

Huawei is a world-renowned telecommunications equipment supplier. But Huawei has been increasing investment in its software sector to meet the need for telecoms operators to expand services outside their voice phones. Huawei is expected to raise more cloud-computing mobile services similar to digital malls in the future.

70% of the app sales revenue for Huawei's digital mall will be allocated to application developers, and 30% to telecom operators. The digital mall can be accessed through computers, mobile phones, ipads, E-book readers, televisions and other devices.
